Saqi Saqb’ach ut eb’ li kwuqub’ chi met’

«Saqi Saqb’ach ut eb’ li kwuqub’ chi met’» is a children’s reading book written in K’eqchi’ Mayan Language.  It is based on an English short story of Snow White and the seven dwarfs fairy tale.  This version has been written in modern K’eqchi’ using the preterit, a tense for describing events that happened in the past or to tell fictional stories located in the past.  The writing style follows the K’eqchi’ grammar developed by the author, a native K’eqchi’ speaker from Guatemala.

This story is presented with simple illustrations and text describing the events and moments experienced by the different characters in the sequence.  Although the story is simple, reading the book requires a good understanding of intermediate K’eqchi’ level.  We encourage the reader to learn more about the K’eqchi’ language of Guatemala and enjoy the story to the fullest.
